Solidarity with wildfire victims in Los Angeles
Community,
As you have likely seen in the news, Los Angeles is being ravaged by the Eaton Fire, Palisades Fire, and Hurst Fire surrounding the sprawling city, exacerbated by drought and high winds.
From Vermont to Los Angeles, 350VT stands with all frontline communities dealing with the consequences of fossil fuel combustion, corporate greed, and the failure of our politicians to act on climate. We are committed to continuing to build a grassroots climate justice movement that creates local resilience and pushes the people in power to take climate action.
As we speak, migrant workers in Pasadena organizing through the Pasadena Community Job Center and National Day Labor Organizing Network (NDLON) are going into their community and helping neighbors clean up debris, providing food and clean water, and (seen here, here, here, and here). This reminds us of the many Vermonters who showed up in Barre, Plainfield, Barton, Montpelier, and many other towns throughout Vermont. In the words of immigrant leaders organizing in Pasadena, “Solo el pueblo salva al pueblo.” Only the community saves the community.
We are asking our base to please take a moment to connect and support grassroots organizations in Los Angeles.

We hope you will find ways to support, even if we are thousands of miles away, and continue to build relationships and connections with those on the front lines of the climate crisis everywhere. Let’s continue to organize and strengthen connections to our communities so that we can jump into action when needed–just as we’ve done in the past. We are stronger together.
Solidarity,
350Vermont
